Trinidad & Tobago will host CARIFESTA XIV, the Caribbean Festival of Arts, from August 16-25, 2019. Known as the region’s premier multi-disciplinary Arts and Culture festival, this 10-day festival occurs every 2 years and aims to celebrate the spirit, culture and heritage of the Caribbean people through our expressions of Music, Visual Art, Food, Literature, Folklore, Theatre and Dance.

CARIFESTA XIV aims to unearth the undiscovered talent resident in T&T through a Talent Search and Casting Call, giving YOU the opportunity to perform at the Caribbean’s BIGGEST showcase of our Arts and Culture.

CASTING CRITERIA

  1. Applicant(s) must be 12 years old and over
  2. Applicant(s) must be a CARICOM national and/or part of the diaspora
  3. Applicant(s) must be available for the dates of the festival

RULES & REGULATIONS

All forms of talent are welcomed, including but NOT limited to the following expressions of Arts & Culture: Music (vocal), Music (instrument), Dance/Movement, Spoken Word/ Poetry and Theatre.

  1. Acts will be allotted no more than THREE (3) MINUTES to perform. Acts will be PENALIZED if time is exceeded.
  2. Group acts are allowed a maximum of 6 members.
  3. Successful acts selected to perform during CARIFESTA XIV will be contacted by the CARIFESTA Secretariat within 6 weeks of your Talent Search performance. All decisions made by the judges will be final.
  4. NO profanity or vulgar lyrics are allowed in any vocal performance or dance music.
  5. NO nudity allowed! Attire must be tasteful. NO alcohol, tobacco, or drug advertisements or inferences are to be displayed on clothing.
  6. NO pyrotechnics, open flames or any other dangerous additions can be included in your performance.
  7. All acts that require playback/track accompaniment must submit by email to carifesta2019@gmail.com at least 3 working days before your performance date. You must also bring along a copy of your track on audition day. No cell phone audio is allowed.

Microphone(s) and the aid of a Sound Technician will be provided. YOU must provide your own music on CD or flash drive, taped music, instruments, props, keyboard etc., if needed. ONLY basic band instruments will be allowed.

NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE TO THESE RULES.

CASTING CRITERIA

  1. Applicant must be actively working in the respective creative discipline
  2. Applicant must be a CARICOM national and/or part of the diaspora
  3. Applicant must be available for the dates of the festival
  4. International and/or regional experience will be an asset
  5. Applicants who have performed at previous CARIFESTAs are preferred
  6. Any Heritage works being performed must be original
  7. Applicant must be able to supply excerpts of existing work or proposals of new work in advance of the deadline
