What are some of the benefits to be derived from a CARIFESTA Host Country?

Sector Development and Industry Diversification

CARIFESTA XIV may be used to effectively promote a host country’s Destination Brand. It may also contribute to the diversification of that country’s Tourism Industry and the development of its Cultural Sector.

Festival Tourism

A host country may engage in Festival Tourism marketing, where that country positions itself as an attractive location to festival seekers traveling the globe in search of fun and entertainment.

Diaspora Tourism

The Caribbean diaspora is an important market for arts and popular culture. CARIFESTA presents a unique and attractive Diaspora Tourism marketing opportunity, where this audience is invited and encouraged to visit the Caribbean, partake in the Festival, and contribute to the host country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP,) in the process.

Creative Sector Development

CARIFESTA is a multidisciplinary festival that fosters sharing and generates artistic and creative ideas among artisans and festival goers which may aid in further development of the Creative Sector of the host country, and by extension, the region.

Why is the Government of Trinidad and Tobago hosting CARIFESTA XIV?

In keeping with the GORTT’s National Development Strategy (Vision 2030) and consistent with the development theme of “Putting People First; Nurturing Our Greatest Asset,” hosting CARIFESTA XIV at this time will be a channel to generate greater value for key stakeholders like artists, cultural workers and cultural entrepreneurs in this particular sector of the Arts.

Trinidad and Tobago are one of the Creative and Cultural hubs of the region; the Creative and Cultural Sectors are an integral part of our economy. Over the years, we have celebrated our culture and diversity in many festivals which have defined who we are as a people, created a culturally rich society and brought some notoriety to the country. Hosting an Arts Festival of this magnitude will promote T&T’s profile as a dynamic and creative destination. The hosting of CARIFESTA XIV, therefore, seeks to further Trinidad and Tobago’s Cultural and Festival Tourism agenda.
