With 7 months to go until CARIFESTA XIV, carded for August 16th-25th, 2019 in Trinidad and Tobago, eleven (11) Caribbean member and associate member states, out of the nineteen (19) invited have already registered, which many may consider unprecedented in recent years. February 14, 2019 is the registration deadline given to delegations from CARICOM Member and Associate States, and to date, the following countries all have confirmed their attendance:
Dominica St. Lucia
Guyana St. Vincent and the Grenadines
Montserrat St. Kitts Nevis
Associate Member States:
Turks and Caicos
Dr. Hilary Browne, Programme Manager for Culture and Community Development, CARICOM, who has been involved in the last five festivals and visited Trinidad and Tobago for the official launch of CARIFESTA in October 2018, noted that “Trinidad and Tobago is doing a tremendous job in preparing for the festival.” She praised the organizing committee, indicating that “the level of preparation is ahead of any she has seen so far.” The CARIFESTA Secretariat is very much encouraged by these sentiments and is working closely with CARICOM and each delegation to ensure this 14th installment of the festival exceeds expectations.
